KOI Association / Social Center Xaspel

Social Center Xaspel started in May 2010 as one of the first initiatives of its kind in Bulgaria. It is a platform offering space to different social, ecological and political groups currently present in Bulgarian society, as well as supporting initiatives in free education, social mobilization, critical thought, direct work with migrants, minorities, etc.

The collective of Social center Xaspel is made up of young people and university students, many of which have backgrounds in the social sciences and culture. There are people of different political traditions within the left, brought together by the idea of seeking alternatives to the current neoliberal capitalist model.

Since May 2010 the collective of Social Center Xaspel has been running the physical space of the center, as well as designing the center's program, a wide array of public events such as lectures, discussion, film seminars, mini-festivals, etc. The collective of the Social center is comprised of a dozen individuals who work voluntarily, and contribute financially with small donations for the rent and other expenses of the center.

As Xaspel is an informal group of people, the legal representative is KOI Association.
