The Feminist Workshop Brochure

The Feminist Workshop brochure, came out as the result of the New Left Perspectives project and the workshop that took place in December 2013 at the fridge & Social center Haspel.

RLS - SEE / The Feminist Workshop Brochure

The brochure seeks to draw attention to the necessity of organized action in the Bulgarian society, targeted towards visibility of women’s problems (both of the heterosexual and the LGBT community) and to redefine women’s problems and the reasons for their existence – both on local level and within the context of the contemporary capitalist world and its political and socioeconomical parameters.
The brochure includes texts by Boryana Rossa and Liza Babenko on feminist art, the image of contemporary woman and the necessity for feminist actions in Bulgaria, Russia and Ukraine. The review of the most important problems faced by women in these countries - such as sexual and domestic violence and poverty, reproductive work and sexual exploitation are given. Besides the two texts, the brochure includes images from the workshop, reproductions of the works shown by Mikaela and Мarina Vinnik, as well as illustrations of artworks supporting the texts.

The Feminist Workshop has reviewed wide spectrum of issues – from migrant work and sexual and gender identities, to women participation in protest movements and their specific organizational and technical strategies. The practical section of the workshop was teaching basic skills in graphic design, graffiti making, comic drawing, video, photography and direct action. The workshop has offered a space for exchange of practices on women issues and was dedicated to the use of arts for education and agitation. Besides technical skills, the participants discussed the conceptual content of the produced artworks, as well as the most adequate aesthetic and form of its expression.
